Last weekend I visited the Waterhouse Art Prize a fabulous annual exhibition that is shown in Canberra and Adelaide by the South Australian Museum. I recommend anyone to attend, currently showing at the National Archives. Works by various artists and in many different mediums, lots of 3D forms, a combination of natural history and art.
It is now WEEK 10 :
I have written my proposal and a Bio.
I have completed one small painting.
I have started making three paintings for my body of work.
Preparing for Mid Semester Review
WEEKS 7-9 :
Researching Abstract Art, Expressive Art and Symbolic Art. Looked at works of Joy Hester, Egon Schiele, Alice Neel and Elizabeth Neel. Found some interesting images of wire sculptures. 'Art is about reasserting our first hand experiences' - Anthony Gomley
- Looked at works of William Turnbull, listen to a talk on the internet about him.
- Looked at tyre sculptures of Young Ho Ji.
- Explored images of Gloria Swanson and Greta Garbo, exploration of beauty. Played with photos in photoshop. This inspired thoughts about gestural lines of figurative drawings.

WEEK 3 I have been grinding off the rises on my bronze and considering thesurface and how I will finish the surface.
